A talented student who achieved top grades across the board at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College says he couldn’t think of a better place to study.
Calum Faulkner, 18, was delighted after securing four A* grades in Physics, Maths, Further Maths and Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
The former Greenfield Academy pupil has now gained a place at Imperial College London where he will study Materials with Nuclear Engineering.
And he credits the teaching staff at QE for helping him to realise his ambitions.
Calum said: “Above everything else, my teachers were the highlight of my time at QE – they made each lesson an engaging and memorable experience, as well as providing the strongest pillar of support that I’ve ever had in my life. The staff are simply incredible. The support with university applications, especially to the top universities, is just brilliant. I couldn’t name a better place to study for A-Levels.
“I would like to thank my A level Maths teacher Sarah McAdam. Her son George currently attends Imperial and for the whole of this year she has really gone above and beyond to support me during the admissions process. I’m really looking forward to the degree course. I’ve mostly engaged in theory at college so using the incredible facilities at Imperial will give me chance to develop practical skills and learn how to use some rather fancy equipment. It will also allow me to learn from some of the world’s smartest students and top of their field academics.”

It has been a particularly impressive year for students who studied Maths and Further Maths, with 7 students getting double A*, 2 students securing A* / A, and 3 students gaining double A grades.
