Our second year A Level Law students had the privilege of attending by DS Liam Robertson, who is a former QE student. The topic of discussion was about police powers of stop and search, discussing when the police can search an individual and the process of a search. DS Robertson also discussed powers of arrest, and what will happen at the police station following arrest.
Course Leader for A Level Law, Giles Bayliss says ‘Liam gave an insight into the real-life application of police powers, and drew on his own experiences and the challenges faced by police officers. He was able to provide students with practical examples of the decisions facing police officers on a daily basis. This was a highly relevant and interesting talk from Liam. ‘
