QE Stanhope Players, QE’s very own drama group, recently delighted audiences with their take on the classic Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. With a cast of students who had been meeting to rehearse regularly since early 2023, the production was a success, with many compliments from those who came to watch. Putting on two evening productions, and two matinees for Longfield School and Hurworth School, our students had a very busy end to the year!
The show, although originally set in the 17th century, had a wonderful set comprised of 80s memorabilia and neon lights to fit a slightly more modern theme. To complete the look, the cast of the show had outfits straight out of the era of perms and legwarmers!
Professor Simon J. James, author and Professor of English Studies at Durham University, commented ‘What a talented cast! The actors were not just on top of their lines, but of their meaning as well. There are some real stars’.
Well done to all students who took part, from the acting to the production!
