It was a honour to welcome back ex-student, Tom Johnson, who kindly took time out of his busy schedule to share his knowledge and expertise about his career journey and the opportunities and challenges within the world of Journalism.
Tom began his career working in radio before landing his role as Production Journalist for ITV Tyne Tees, where he now produces news bulletins, plans stories and generates content for ITV’s website.
It was particularly interesting to hear him talk about how to industry dealt with some of world’s biggest news stories, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the death of The Queen.
Students profited from Tom’s wealth of expertise as they asked whole host of questions on topics like breaking into the industry and building the skills set required to work on live TV.
