QE students have been celebrating the College’s increasing diversity with a week of dance, music and food. QE Culture Week showcased the heritage and traditions of over 30 countries represented by students at the College and included Bollywood dancing, African drumming, a saree wearing workshop and food stalls offering Zimbabwean Beef Stew, Polish Potato Soup South African Chakalaka and much, much more!
Organised by teacher Nancy Wall and by students from ‘DARE’, the College’s diversity group, Culture Week ended with a day of celebration attended by hundreds of students and staff, as well as by local MP Peter Gibson and Darlington Mayor Councillor Jan Cossins.
Commenting on the week’s events Meirion Baker, Assistant Principal, said “It’s fantastic that students have shared each others’ cultures and heritages in such a fun and positive way. A huge amount of planning goes into Culture Week but the result is one of the most uplifting and enjoyable events of the College year. Well done to everyone involved!”
