Annual Battle of the Bands Hits All the Right Notes

Our annual Battle of the Bands returned on Friday as four talented bands battled it out in front of an excited and energetic crowd. Each band delivered impressive live sets, showcasing their musical skills, passion, and stage presence. The audience had the important task of voting for their favourite act, with the winning band, Aniseed Lounge, claiming the coveted title along with the prize money.

This much-loved annual event has been a highlight of the college calendar for years, bringing students, staff, and music lovers together to celebrate local talent. The atmosphere was electric as each performance captivated the crowd, creating a night to remember for everyone involved.

Mike Hepple, Course Leader Popular Music, praised the event, saying: “We have some excellent musicians in college, really talented, and Battle of the Bands is a great showcase of that.” His words reflected the pride and admiration felt for the performers, who demonstrated both creativity and dedication on stage.

Winning band The Aniseed Lounge stole the show with their standout performance, earning cheers and votes from the audience. Their victory was well-deserved, capping off an unforgettable afternoon of live music.

Russ Smith, student and member of the Aniseed Lounge commented: “It was an amazing experience to perform alongside such talented bands and to feel the amazing response from the audience.  We’re excited about the opportunity to get involved in future events at the college. ”

Battle of the Bands continues to be a fantastic platform for young musicians to share their talent and gain live performance experience. It’s an event that not only celebrates music but also fosters a strong sense of community and support among students.
