BBC Radio Producer Chris Sykes Inspires QE Media and Journalism Students

Media and Journalism students had the incredible opportunity to take part in a dynamic workshop led by former QE student and BBC Radio Producer, Chris Sykes.

During the session, students pitched their own podcast ideas, explored the significance of news stories, and engaged in thought-provoking debates on real-life journalistic scenarios. The workshop provided valuable industry insights, equipping students with practical knowledge and inspiration for their future careers in media.

Amani Hussain, student commented: “The workshop was excellent in highlighting the diverse career opportunities in journalism. It also helped us develop management skills through real-life scenarios and emphasized the importance of tailoring news stories to our target audience.”

“We are extremely grateful to Chris for sharing his expertise and offering our students such a fantastic learning experience,” said Beccy Vickers, Course Leader of Creative Media Practice “It was a truly engaging afternoon that reinforced the importance of storytelling and journalistic integrity.”

QE extends a huge thank you to Chris Sykes for his time and support in nurturing the next generation of media professionals.
