Students Explore Career Opportunities at Darlington Economic Campus for National Apprenticeship Week

As part of National Apprenticeship Week, students were given an exciting opportunity to visit the Darlington Economic Campus (DEC) to gain valuable insights into apprenticeship pathways within the UK government.

The event featured a panel discussion with current DEC apprentices, ranging from degree economists to policy officers, who shared their experiences, career journeys, and the benefits of apprenticeships in shaping their professional futures. Following the panel, students engaged in a networking session at an Apprentice Careers Fair, where they had the chance to interact with apprentices in smaller groups, ask questions, and explore potential career opportunities.

Lydia Elliott, QE’s Job Coach commented: “The trip helped students to find out more about what it would be like to work as a civil servant in Darlington and the variety of opportunities available to them after college.”

Lucy Wray, student also commented: “I didn’t know that there was lots of different departments at the Economic Campus and it’s opened my eyes up to the different jobs I might want to do.”

The Darlington Economic Campus continues to play a vital role in regional economic growth by offering apprenticeship opportunities that equip young people with the skills and experience needed for success in the workforce.
