Thirteen students at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College are celebrating after receiving offers to study some of the most competitive undergraduate degree courses in the UK.
With only 8,000 Medicine, 950 Dentistry, and 1,200 Veterinary Medicine places available nationwide, gaining a place is a significant achievement – requiring outstanding academic performance, commitment, and a rigorous application process.
Among those celebrating is Karla Chan, who will be studying Medicine from September. She said: “The support from both the Careers Team and my Academic Coach has been outstanding – from mock interviews to ongoing guidance, they’ve helped me so much with the application process.”
Sarah Griffiths, Careers Advisor at QE, praised the students’ ambition and resilience: “These offers show just how determined, talented, and hardworking our students are – we couldn’t be prouder. Every year, we support a high number of students progressing onto these competitive courses, and it’s fantastic to see this tradition continue.”
Students applying for Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine must navigate a challenging selection process, including personal statements, aptitude tests, and multiple interviews – often requiring significant preparation and support.
Principal, Laurence Job added: “We are delighted with the continued success of our students in securing places on these highly demanding courses. Their achievements are a testament to their talent and work ethic, as well as the expert guidance and encouragement they receive throughout their time at QE.”
