QE Students Celebrate Outstanding Exam Success

Students at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College are celebrating another year of exceptional academic achievement, with a very impressive overall pass rate of above 99%.

This summer, 910 A*/A grades were awarded, reflecting the hard work and dedication of QE students. Among them, 88 students achieved three or more A*/A grades (or equivalent). In total, 556 students secured at least one A*/A (or equivalent) in one or more subjects.

These results reflect the incredible effort, ambition, and talent of QE students and members of staff. Some truly exceptional individual performances highlight the extent of their achievements.

  • Kaysan Azam-McArdle from Darlington secured four A* grades in Politics, English Literature, French and Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). He will be reading English and French at the University of Oxford.
  • Isabella Griffiths from Thirsk earned four A* grades in English Literature, French, German and Spanish. She will be continuing her academic journey at Newcastle University, where she will study Modern Languages.
  • Louis Brett from Darlington achieved four A* grades in Chemistry, Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics. He will be progressing to Durham University to pursue a Natural Sciences degree.
  • Mary Guirguis from Stockton-on-Tees attained two A* grades in French and Mathematics and an A grade in English Literature. She plans to read French and Arabic at the University of Oxford.
  • Andrew Batty from West Auckland achieved three A* grades in Politics, Law and Religious Studies. He will be progressing to King’s College in London to pursue Politics, Philosophy and Law.
  • Chloe McAllister from Wynyard in County Durham secured two A* grades in Chemistry and Biology and an A grade in Mathematics and will be studying Medicine at Queen’s University Belfast.
  • Eve Connor from Billingham gained two A* grades in Politics and Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), alongside two A grades in English Literature and Modern History. She has secured a very impressive Level 5 Journalism Apprenticeship with the BBC.
  • Noble Anim from Thornaby achieved one A* in Mathematics and three A grades in Computer Science, Further Mathematics and Physics. He has been awarded a prestigious full scholarship to study Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology in the USA.
  • Karla Chang from Darlington has been awarded two A* grades in Mathematics and Chemistry and an A in Biology. She will be studying Medicine at the University of East Anglia.
  • Lucy Heron from Newton Aycliffe attained four A* grades in English Literature, Physics, Mathematics and Further Mathematics. She plans to study Physics at Imperial College London.
  • Alexandra Fry from Newton Aycliffe earned two A grades in Chemistry and Mathematics and a B in Biology. She will be studying Veterinary Medicine at the Royal Veterinary College.
  • Michael Smith from Darlington achieved an A in A Level Photography, a Distinction in BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Studies and a B in A Level Film Studies. He will be studying Film Production at Sunderland University. Michael was also recognised as an emerging talent in the UK film industry, receiving the ‘One to Watch’ award at this year’s Into Film Awards in London.
  • Erin Corcoran from Richmond achieved two A* grades in Psychology and Sociology and an A grade in English Language. She will be progressing to the University of Leeds to study Psychology.
  • Darragh Lyons from Richmond earned an A in Photography and two Distinction* grades in BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Music and BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Travel and Tourism. He will be studying Fashion Communication at Manchester Metropolitan University.
