QE Students Take London by Storm: A Shakespearean and Theatrical Adventure

Our second year English Literature students embarked on an unforgettable journey to the Capital, diving deep into the world of art, theatre and Shakespearean drama.

Day One began with a visit to the iconic V&A Museum, where students were captivated by the grandeur of the art exhibitions, sparking thoughtful discussions and creative inspiration.  They continued with a magical evening at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, where they immersed themselves in a lively performance of Robin Belfield’s ‘Twelfth Night’ as part of their A Level exam preparation.. The highlight? QE’s very own English teacher Dean and student Ellie stole the spotlight with surprise appearances on stage! An electrifying moment that made the experience truly unforgettable!

Day Two offered the opportunity to revisit Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and learn all about its rich history. Students explored the theatre’s exhibition space, immersing themselves in the sights, sounds and secrets of Shakespeare’s London. The learning continued with a hands-on ‘Twelfth Night’ drama workshop, where our talented students thought about the text in performance and gave some of their own. The day wrapped up with free time to explore the city, followed by another evening at the theatre to see the musical sensation, Hamilton! A perfect finale to a culturally rich and inspiring trip.

This two day adventure not only deepened our students’ understanding of Shakespeare and the world of theatre, but also sparked creativity, confidence and boosted their love for the arts. From stepping onto The Globe stage to experiencing the electric energy of Hamilton, our students returned inspired, enriched, and full of unforgettable memories.

We’re proud of their enthusiasm, talent, and curiosity, and we can’t wait to see where their literary journey takes them next.
