QE Rugby Kick Off 2025-2026 Season with a Bang

This time last week, QE rugby team made a powerful statement in their first hit out of the season in the National AOC Cup, cruising to an emphatic 87-0 WIN over Malton Academy. It was a performance of energy and excitement, while not playing to the greatest of our abilities and some areas needing work the intent shown was fantastic, a brilliant showcase of what this squad is capable of when firing on all cylinders. It was the perfect opportunity to see combinations clicking throughout the team and link up play starting to come into effect, with more training and focus going towards tougher opposition throughout the season this provided the fundamental foundations to build from.

Everyone stepped up to the plate, doing their jobs and getting involved. Some of the standout performances came from Henry Bottomley, Ruben Brand, Josh Hodges, Jack Thompson and Charlie Harrison who stepped in a 10 (out of position) and did a great job. These are just some of the standout performers, but EVERYONE had a great game. With these contributions this squad holds great promise.

A special mention to Captain James Graham for his first win as captain, commanding display and lead the team with maturity and composure.

This result sets a strong tone for the season ahead, and if this fixture is anything to go by, with he right guidance and team development to get everything flowing like a well oiled machine… QE Rugby are a team to watch!!!
