Last week, QE was buzzing with ideas, creativity and eco‑friendly action as our students came together for Green Week: a week dedicated to championing sustainability through small, meaningful changes.
Throughout the week, students, who are working towards Green Leadership Qualification, led the challenge across the college through a series of inspiring activities designed to get our community thinking about the everyday swaps that can make a real difference to the planet.
We kicked things off with our Fair Trade Chocolate Challenge, proving that choosing Fair Trade doesn’t just taste great, it helps support farmers and communities around the world. A delicious way to do good.
On Tuesday, it was time for Plastic is Not Fantastic, where students explored just how long plastic takes to break down and discovered simple, sustainable alternatives. From shampoo bars to bamboo toothbrushes, the message was clear: easy swaps can have a huge impact.
Mid‑week brought a sweet moment for a good cause with our mangrove‑fundraising cake sale. Every slice sold helped support vital mangrove restoration, trees that protect coastlines and absorb carbon at an incredible rate.
And on Friday, we closed the week with a double celebration. First up was Palentines, a day dedicated to friendship, kindness and celebrating the people who make life special. Students shared thoughtful gestures, small gifts and lots of smiles. Alongside this, they also got creative by designing their own reusable tote bags, ditching single‑use plastics while showing off their own style. Sustainability never looked so cool.
Throughout Green Week, our students demonstrated genuine passion and commitment to protecting the planet. Their enthusiasm, teamwork and QE spirit shone through every activity, and we couldn’t be prouder.
Here’s to small swaps, big changes, and a more sustainable future, powered by our incredible students.
