Student on the right track for success

A talented student is aiming high by combining his studies with competing on the international stage.

Henry Rayner, 16, is in his first year at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, but has also been competing at BMX for over 10 years and currently races for Evolve Collective.

He has represented Great Britain at the World and European Championships and recently raced at Pro Level at the BMX European Cup – making it into round 2.

The former Barnard Castle pupil is studying Business, PE and Information Technology at QE and is excited to see where both his studies and BMX career can take him.

He said: “I remember going down to my local BMX track when I was a kid and just loved it straight away. It has been a fantastic experience representing Great Britain and now I am hoping to perform well in my first-year championships and see what I can achieve in the sport.

“I am also really enjoying my time at QE so far – I have made lots of new friends and am enjoying the course.

“It is always good to have options and, if BMX doesn’t work out for me, I would be interested in pursuing something to do with sales.”

Everybody at QE is proud of Henry’s achievements and wish him every success as he continues to make a name for himself in the BMX arena.
