QE REIGN Group Shines on the National Stage at the SHINE School Media Awards

On Monday 29th June, students from QE’s award-winning Journalism group, REIGN, travelled to London to attend the prestigious SHINE School Media Awards, celebrating a year of creativity, innovation, and outstanding achievement.

Building on the success of the previous year, the talented REIGN team has worked tirelessly to produce new magazine editions, launch engaging podcast episodes and introduce fresh ideas to further strengthen and develop their REIGN brand. Their dedication and passion were recognised nationally, earning nominations in three highly competitive categories:

  • Best Printed Publication
  • Best Magazine Front Cover
  • Terry Mansfield CBE Award for Tomorrow’s Talent

The team’s hard work paid off in spectacular fashion. REIGN received Highly Commended in both the Best Magazine Front Cover and Terry Mansfield CBE Award for Tomorrow’s Talent categories, while also taking home the coveted award for Best Printed Publication.

Accompanying the students to the awards ceremony at Stationers’ Hall was Media Studies Course Leader and REIGN Supervisor, Jodie Freeman, who reflected on another remarkable year of success:

“We were honoured to be shortlisted again this year for the Shine School Media Awards at the Stationers’ Hall in London. The standard of entries was incredibly high this year, which made it all the more exciting that we were nominated for three awards.

The fact we won Best Printed Publication was a huge surprise as we did not know until the day that we had been shortlisted for that award. It is testament to the huge effort put into the magazine across a range of elements including writing, editing and design, that we came away with that award, and I am so proud of the whole Reign team for the work they have put into building our college magazine over the past two years.”

Winning on the national stage is a fantastic achievement and reflects the creativity, professionalism and teamwork demonstrated by every student involved in REIGN. From producing high-quality journalism to developing innovative content and designs, the group continues to go from strength to strength.

We couldn’t be prouder of everything the team has accomplished, and their success at the SHINE School Media Awards is a fitting celebration of an incredible year.

We can’t wait to see what exciting projects and achievements lie ahead for REIGN next year!
