Art and Design Students Impress in Collaboration with UGD Apparel

The Art Department recently partnered with their Employer Champion, UGD Apparel, for an exciting competition centered on the theme ‘Law of the Jungle’. Students were tasked with creating artwork and presenting it in context to the client.

A huge congratulations to Lucy Culthard, an Art Foundation student, who won this year’s live brief with her outstanding submission. Additionally, first year students Julia Slewa and Caitlin Scaplehorn won the live brief in textiles – marking the first time UGD Apparel has collaborated with Year 1 students.

Sam, the owner of UGD Apparel, praised the students’ work, saying: “Once again, the Art Foundation students have delivered exceptional standards, making it incredibly difficult to select a winner. I was equally impressed with the skill and professionalism of the first-year textiles students, who took on this challenge despite having less experience in this area.”

Rachel Barras, Assistant Head of Art and Design, emphasized the significance of the project, stating: “This competition has provided students with invaluable experience, enhancing their professional practice and preparing them for future progression. We are deeply grateful to Sam for his time, expertise, and ongoing support of our students. We look forward to collaborating with more local clients on future projects.”
