Double National Win for QE’s Reign Team at Shine Media Awards

On Monday 30th June, QE students Thomas Marsh and Miéle Emmott went with Media Studies Course Leader, Jodie Freeman, to the national Shine School Media Awards in London. After a year of incredibly hard work on the Reign brand, which has included a podcast created and led by Thomas, a magazine made up of approximately 25 contributors and a social media profile team, the Reign team knew they had been shortlisted for something, but they couldn’t have guessed what they outcome was, especially because the calibre of work for some long-established school and college magazines was so high.

We are delighted to announce that Reign won two awards! One for The QE Podcast which won the coveted Peter Day Award for Best Audio 🏆 and the Rising Star Award for Reign magazine 🏆 to say we were shocked and excited is an understatement.

We were also thrilled to see some fellow North Eastern schools at the event, including one of our feeder schools, @hummersknott.academy who were awarded two Highly Commended Awards for their school newspaper following their success winning Best Newspaper last year! We can’t wait to welcome some of their fantastic talent to QE in the 25/26 academic year, including the very lovely Jack and Liv, who intend to join Team Reign when they start their studies with us.

We can’t wait to see what next year brings for @reign_qe but we know without a doubt that it will include more beautifully produced, thought-provoking and engaging content for the next generation of QE students. Well done, team!
