Our Leisure and Sport students recently visited a local care home, bringing energy, laughter, and movement to residents through a range of engaging activities. The visit was part of a multi-generational initiative designed to keep people active while fostering friendship and community spirit.
Students led a variety of seated exercises tailored to different mobility levels, ensuring everyone could participate. From gentle stretching to light ball games, the activities were met with enthusiasm, encouraging residents to stay active in a fun and social way. Laughter filled the room as students and residents worked together, sharing stories and enjoying each other’s company.
Beyond physical activity, the event highlighted the power of connection. Students gained valuable experience interacting with older generations, while residents benefited from the companionship and fresh energy the young visitors brought. The care home staff praised the initiative, noting the positive impact on residents’ well-being and mood.
This visit was just the beginning, with plans for more sessions to strengthen these meaningful intergenerational bonds. Through movement, fun, and friendship, students and residents alike are proving that staying active is for everyone, no matter their age.
