Ambitious Luke Cinnamond is looking forward to the future after securing a place to study History at world-renowned Oxford University.
Luke, 18, had a remarkable two years at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College – completing the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award, representing the College football team over two years and, most importantly, gaining A* grades in History, English and Extended Project Qualification, as well as an A in French.
The former Hummersknott Academy pupil enjoyed the both the social and academic side of college life and credits the teaching staff for helping him to reach his potential.
“The teachers were knowledgeable, supportive and easy to talk to – they helped me when I faced challenges, kept material engaging and encouraged me to work hard,” explained Luke.
“There were multiple opportunities for trips and other enrichment activities which allowed me to gain valuable experiences outside of the classroom. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my two years at QE and found it to be a welcoming and positive environment.”
Luke is looking forward to his next chapter at Oxford and, after University is aiming for a career based in the Capital.
Reminiscing about his favourite memories at QE, Luke highlights winning the league and cup double for the football team following an intense penalty shoot-out, as well as celebrating with friends during an emotional results day.
He added: QE gives its students a significant amount of independence, provides a multitude of opportunities to accommodate different interests and most importantly has a range of subjects with fantastic teachers.
“Aside from the great social atmosphere, QE has all of the resources necessary to prepare a student for their next steps in any field.”
