QE Student’s Ambition Takes Flight with Prestigious U.S. Engineering Scholarship

Eighteen-year-old Noble Anim from Thornaby, a student at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College (QE), is set to take flight to the United States after being awarded a prestigious full financial scholarship to study engineering at the world-renowned Georgia Institute of Technology.  This opportunity comes after his successful participation in the Sutton Trust Fulbright US Programme.

Noble’s outstanding achievements mark a significant milestone in his academic journey, showcasing his dedication, resilience, and passion for engineering. The scholarship will fully cover tuition fees and living expenses, enabling him to pursue his ambitions without financial barriers.

A former student of Trinity Catholic College in Middlesbrough, Noble joined QE not knowing anyone. He credits the friendships he formed during his time at QE with providing vital academic and personal support. He has actively contributed to college life – captaining the chess team leading them to the regional finals for the first time,  participating in Culture Day, and representing QE on the football team. Describing his experience at QE as “very productive and supportive in all areas,” Noble explained that his primary goal was always to secure a university place.

As an international student, Noble faced challenges accessing student funding in the UK. Determined not to let this hold him back, he worked closely with QE’s Careers Team and applied to universities in both the UK and the US—including Oxford and Cambridge—noting the significant differences in application processes.

Earlier this year, Noble travelled to the US to take part in a rigorous interview process, which led to his successful scholarship offer.

Speaking about the opportunity, Noble said: “This is the biggest moment of my life – my parents are incredibly proud. I’m very grateful for the opportunity to have attended such a great college, which has provided me with endless support. A special thanks also to my family for always being there for me.”

Throughout his time at QE, Noble has demonstrated outstanding academic ability and a strong commitment to his studies. His drive and passion for engineering were key to securing this scholarship, and he now hopes to contribute to the advancement of global technology in the future.

Meirion Baker, Assistant Principal at QE, commented: “We are incredibly proud of Noble’s achievement. His hard work, determination, and commitment are truly inspiring. He is a shining example of what our students can accomplish, and we wish him every success in this exciting new chapter.”

The Georgia Institute of Technology, based in Atlanta, is globally recognised for its rigorous engineering programmes and cutting-edge research. It is consistently ranked among the top institutions for aspiring engineers worldwide.
