Robotics Team Qualifies for VEX National Finals After a Stellar Performance at Newcastle University

Congratulations to our incredible Robotics team on their outstanding achievement at the VEX Robotics competition held at Newcastle University. After weeks of intense preparation, steep learning curves, and competing against well-funded private school teams, they emerged victorious—securing their place in the prestigious VEX Robotics National Finals.

The team’s success is a testament to their resilience, dedication, and teamwork. Their hard work paid off as they claimed the top spot in yesterday’s event, showcasing their strategic problem-solving and engineering excellence.

Adding to their impressive victory, the team was also honoured with the highly coveted Judges Award. This recognition is given to teams that:

  • Display special attributes, exemplary effort, or perseverance at the event.
  • Stand out to judges as deserving of special recognition.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, teamwork, professionalism, and a strong student-centered ethos.

Darryn Gordon, Course Leader of Computer Science commented: “The students were understandably over the moon with their achievement, and we couldn’t be prouder of how far they have come in just a few short weeks. Their passion, determination, and collaborative spirit have been truly inspiring.”

Erika King, student commented: “It’s been a fantastic experience and we have learnt so much along the way.  Thank you to our teacher Darryn for all of his, time, effort and support.  Bring on the Nationals!”

We look forward to supporting them as they take on the VEX Robotics National Finals, where they will represent the College on an even bigger stage. Congratulations once again—this is just the beginning!
