We we’re delighted to host the Darlington Primary School’s Futsal Tournament in our Sports Hall, with a total of 5 schools taking part in the event.
The tournament, officiated by QE Sport & Leisure students, saw pupils from Firthmoor, Harrowgate Hill, Heighington, Mowden and Whinfield Primary Schools compete in a round-robin league, with the team top of the group announced as the event winner.
It was Whinfield Primary School who emerged victorious, with Harrowgate Hill taking silver, while an action packed 3rd/4th place play off saw Mowden beat Firthmoor 6-5 in the bronze medal match.
Paul Carrol, Teacher of Sport & Leisure at QE, said: “The tournament a great success. The day was filled with entertaining Futsal matches, with some great young players on show. All schools, teachers and parents should be extremely proud of their players. Our QE Sport Leaders were great role models and demonstrated some excellent leadership skills. I’m really proud that, alongside Darlington School Sport Partnership, we’re able to promote sport to the young people of Darlington.”
