Students Have Their Artwork Displayed in Brand New Show Homes

Students were asked to design an artwork or surface pattern for a teenager’s bedroom of a new show home in Darlington with Miller Homes. The brief outlines a specific colour theme and gave details about the demographic of the target audience. Students worked with a range of media to create a variety of designs and ideas which they then presented a rationale to each of their ideas.

The opportunity given to us by Miller Homes has been an incredibly special experience that has allowed students to have an insight into industry expectations and the world of working to design deadlines.

Rachel Barras, Assistant Head of Art and Design comments ‘Seeing the students work in situ at the show home was amazing, the students were blown away with seeing how their work looked in an interior context and the morning with Miller Homes where students were part of the official opening of the new show home was a lovely experience’.

The interior design team at Miller Homes commented on how professional the work presented by our students was and it made it incredibly difficult to pick just one winner.

Students Esme, Lily, Hope, Sophie and Ellen were the selected winners – a massive well done to them and what they’ve achieved, as well as all the other students who took part in the competition brief!
