Former QE student Thomas Parsons-Munn visited the College to talk to students about legal careers and explain his route to becoming a barrister. Thomas gave valuable advice to current first and second year students on what would help them in preparing for a legal career and what hurdles he had to get through in training and qualifying as a barrister.
Thomas emphasised the importance of gaining practical experience in working with others and developing skills in communicating and advocating on behalf of others. He discussed how opportunities in coaching and leading others was particularly useful as well as dealing with difficult situations. He also emphasised the value of being able to explain things in a way others would find comprehensible and accessible. Students were very appreciative of his visit and found his advice really helpful.
