Wellbeing Week Brings Positivity, Support, and Fun to Campus

Students enjoyed a fantastic Wellbeing Week, packed with activities designed to promote self-care, relaxation, and community spirit. Across five days, the college hosted a range of engaging events, from free healthy snacks to creative workshops, therapy dogs, CPR training, and even dinosaur and penguin hugs!

The week kicked off with Mindful Monday, offering relaxation sessions, free fruit, and self-care activities. Students also took part in Dementia Awareness Training, learning valuable skills to support those affected by memory loss.

Tuesday saw a mix of stress relief and entertainment, with free fidget spinners and tactile dinosaurs helping students manage anxiety. A live piano performance in the Main Hall showcased QE’s talented musicians, while a hidden hydration challenge rewarded students with free water bottles.

Midweek, Wellbeing Wednesday brought plenty of free resources, including cereal bars, therapy dogs at lunch, and even the chance to win a Creme Egg by telling a joke to the Student Union! Chess, FIFA, and an exam stress workshop rounded out the day, ensuring there was something for everyone.

Thursday was packed with inspiration and fun. Inspiring Bananas—with motivational messages written on them—were handed out, while a giant banana roamed the campus spreading positivity! Students also learned lifesaving CPR skills, got involved in creative writing, and enjoyed relaxing activities like mindful sewing and knitting. The highlight? Dinosaur and penguin hugs at the Student Union Office, bringing plenty of smiles and laughter.

The week finished on a high with Feel-Good Friday, featuring self-care jars, free eco-friendly period products, and giant games in the Main Hall. Students also explored healthy eating with air fryer cooking demonstrations and free fruit and veg giveaways. Staff even got involved with a high-energy HIIT workout to end the week on an active note.

Nancy Wall, teacher commented: “QE’s Wellbeing Week was a huge success, reinforcing the importance of self-care, mental health awareness, and community spirit. The Student Union and college staff worked hard to create a welcoming and supportive space, proving that wellbeing is at the heart of the QE experience”.
